A plane carrying 140 passengers skids into Florida River after landing

A Boeing 737 airplane carrying 140 passengers skids off the runway and entered the Florida River near the airport.    The plane landed from Cuba into the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville at about 9:40 pm and it overran the runway and crashed into the river.

136 passenger and 4-crew members survived but some were taken to a nearby hospital.  Luckily the plane did not submerge when it hit the river; rescuers were able to get to them in time to save everyone on board.
