Do you remember the video that leaked out in 2018 showing the incumbent governor of Kano state Abdullahi Ganduje allegedly collecting some pack of money? The case was in court today but didn’t see the light of the day.
In 2018, a video reportedly captured with a spy camera showed Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, receiving an alleged 5 million Dollar bribe from a contractor and buried it in his Agbada.
When the scandal was hot, multiple contractors who spoke with DAILY NIGERIAN on the condition of anonymity said the governor personally received from 15 to 25 per cent kickbacks. The governor had since debunked the claim saying that the video was doctored.
In an attempt to seek a logical conclusion to the scandal, Barrister Bulama Bukarti, a lawyer based in Kano filed a suit against the governor before the Federal High Court sitting in Kano.
In the suit, the lawyer urged the court to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the governor for allegedly receiving a kickback from a contractor.
Unfortunately for the lawyer, he was not able to convince the judge beyond all reasonable doubts. Hence, the judge threw out the suit for lack of evidence.
