The newest WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA Heavyweight Champion, Andy Ruiz Jr said Anthony Joshua might have to take a break from boxing if he suffers a repeat defeat in their rematch.
Recall that the British boxer lost to Ruiz in one of the shock defeats in the history of boxing. Joshua lost all of his boxing championship belt to Andy Ruiz. As a result, he immediately activated the rematch clause in the contract. The match will hold in Saudi Arabia.
Joshua is determined to regain his belts lost to Ruiz and he is doing his best to get ready for the fit. However, Andy Ruiz promised to beat him again.
The current champion emerged as the first Mexican heavyweight champion after ripping away Joshua’s world titles.
With the rematch set, the Mexican-American is planning to inflict another crushing defeat on Joshua.
Speaky with Sky Sport, Ruiz suggested that Joshua will need to take some time off the ring to reassess his next career move.
“I think he should take a little break if I beat him. Let him recuperate, but one or two losses are not going to make a difference.
“He’s still a warrior, he’s still a great fighter, and I’m sure he’ll bounce back,” Ruiz Jr said.
The three titles have propelled Ruiz Jr, who got six weeks notice to the fight after Joshua’s original opponent, Jarrell Miller failed a drug test. Joshua had enough time to prepare for the match and to remain the world’s No 1 WBC champion, but he lost the match. He is now struggling to focus on the rematch.
Reacting to the shocking upset; Ruiz Jr said it is a big blessing to him.
“It means a lot. He said that because I defeated him. Joshua was the greatest heavyweight champion of the world. He had all the belts, and now I do, so it’s a big blessing to be in this position,” he noted.
Andy Ruiz promised his fans that he would defeat Anthony Joshua again and he is hoping to end Joshua’s career.
