Bayelsa federal high court sentenced man to death by hanging for stabbing his wife to death

Oghene Stephen Akpata, 42 years old married Faustina Eze got married in July 2017 and he murdered her in August.  Stephen got angry because of what happened after they finished having sex. He saw a text on her phone and he accused her of cheating.     He stabbed her on the neck and on the shoulder, she died from the injuries –  Stephen told the court.  His deceased wife Oyinye Faustina Eze was 33 years old at the time of her death; she was a staff at Globacom.  

Stephen and Faustina both used to live in Australia. He met her at her job when he came to register a sim card for his phone line. They dated for a short period of time before they got engage and marry.  He told the police that his wife was having an affair with another man when he was arrested. 

The case was in court for close to 2 years. The Federal High court in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state sentenced 42-year-old Ogho-Oghene Stephen Akpata to death by hanging on March 22nd, 2019 for stabbing his wife to death.  He was ordered to remain in jail until his execution date.
