Head Pastor and founder of the Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has expressed his anger and disappointment over how the church treasury is been looted by top officials in the church. The man of God made the outburst last Saturday during the empowerment summit which is usually organized for newly ordained church workers.
Bishop Oyedepo couldn’t hide his disappointment while he was addressing the issue during the empowerment summit. He expressed total disappointment at how some specified professionals who were trusted by the Church authority to help prevent fraud and misappropriation of funds turns out to be the greatest looters. In his words, “Can you imagine accountants perpetrating fraud in the house of God.
It is inherent that the same tussle that company owners face in the conventional world is the same that churches face too. The only difference is the name and operation of the organization. Working in a church does not necessarily or automatically turn an individual into a saint.
The man of God went further in explaining some of the measures taken by the church to curb the act of embezzlement. He explained that some perpetrators were relieved off their duty after they were caught. However, that didn’t stop the act of embezzlement from growing weak. According to him, many other frauds were detected even after some of the culprits were sacked.
Bishop Oyedepo who seem overwhelmed by the act said “You can imagine top church officials engaging in doubling figures and other dubious practices”
Meanwhile, the man of God warned the people present at the summit to be careful, he reiterated the fact that some of the sacked officials will come to them for employment. He urged them not to employ them out of sympathy.
