Fire gutted Okobaba Plank Market, Ebute Metta, Lagos State today. This is the fourth time in less than a week a fire incident happened in the state.
The Ebute Metta fire outbreak reportedly started in one building and extended to 5 other buildings at the Plank Market.
Eyewitnesses took to Twitter with visuals of the fire outbreak seeking an urgent response from appropriate authorities.
However, fire service personnel arrived at the scene of the incident in less than 30 minutes after the first update of this report. As at the time of the last update, the firemen have been fighting to put the fire under control.
Though there is no official statement disclosing the cause of the outbreak, an eyewitness claimed that an electric cable fell on a building and ignited the fire.
Meanwhile, there are reports that residents of the area have started evacuating their properties as an eye witness alleged that the “Fire Fighters are helpless”.

The fire outbreak has repeatedly gutted Five buildings and several shanties but there is yet to be any report of a lost of life.
NigeriaTunes reported that Lagos State witnessed three fire outbreaks on Tuesday, the 5th of November, 2019. The most widely reported incident happened in Balogun Market in Lagos Island; the other happened in Dosunmu, while the last happened in a Chin Chin factory. This Ebuta Metta fire outbreak is the 4th in one week.
