Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has boasted online that he is the best Afro-Pop singer after the late legendary singer Fela Anikulapo Kuti. King Burna as he is fondly called reiterated that there has been no African or Nigerian singer to be called best after the death of Fela except him.
In a series of tweets by the 2020 Grammy award nominee, he disclosed that it was what Timaya told him a long time ago that made not care about being the best. According to him, Timaya had told at one point in time that with or without the best the world will still spin, a better way of saying that the world can do without the best.
Of a truth, Burna needs no introduction when it comes to African music, reasonably, he is considered as the Giant of African music. Little wonder, the 2020 Grammy award winner for the category of World Best Music Album, Angelique Kidjo dedicated her award to Burna Boy. According to the Republic of Benin singer, she explained that Burna Boy is one of the young artists from Africa that are changing the way the world sees Africa through their music.
However, some of the online users that were not too comfortable with Burna’s claim of being the best of African music started asking questions online.
A Tweeter with handle @Jezzyjoseph asked Burna Boy where he was when African music was struggling to hit the mainstream between 2010-2018. Whereas, Burna Boy still claimed to be the best through his reply. According to Burna Boy, Africans were paying heavily to the Western media to play their songs during those periods before he came to give Africa the respect they earn now.
