Coleen Rooney accuses Rebekah Vardy, wife of Jamie Vardy of spreading fake news about her

Wife of one of the world’s most famous English soccer players, Coleen Rooney has had to deal with her share of tabloid coverage. Who shares my private issues to the public? Coleen wonders. Not like she’s not a public target to talk about. But she wonders how the things she hid manages to pass through a tiny hole to the larger front paper of UK newspapers.

The leak of her privacy got to the point where even the most mundane details of her family’s life were finding their way into newspapers such as the Sun.

And so Wayne Rooney’s wife decided to do something about it, mounting a five-month social-media sting operation in which she blocked all but one suspect from viewing her personal Instagram stories and then populated them with fake news items to see if they made it into the Sun Newspaper.

After so much wondering and thinking how the press gets hold of every tiny bit of her private information, Coleen played online detective and boom! She says she found the Parrot.

On Wednesday Rooney revealed her suspect: Rebekah Vardy, wife of Jamie Vardy, Leicester City striker and Wayne Rooney’s former teammate on England’s national team. Surprised!

Rebekah’s Response

Not long after Mrs Rooney posted her findings on her Twitter page, Rebekah Vardy gave an instant response.

She says “As I have just said to you on the phone, I wish you had called me if you thought this. I never speak to anyone about you as various journalists who have asked me to over the years can vouch for. If you thought this was happening you could have told me & I could have changed my passwords to see if it stopped. Over the years various people have had access to my insta & just this week I found I was following people I didn’t know and have never followed myself. I’m not being funny but I don’t need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you? I liked you a lot Coleen & I’m so upset that you have chosen to do this, especially when I’m heavily pregnant. I’m disgusted that I’m even having to deny this. You should have called me the first time this happened.”
