Coronavirus: Lagos Has the Capacity to Handle Highly Infectious Diseases, Health Commissioner Says [Videos]

The Lagos state commissioner for health, Professor Akin Abayomi said the Lagos state ministry of health has all the required facility and equipment to handle highly infectious diseases like coronavirus also known as COVID-19.

The health commissioner who stated this at a press conference organised in the state to give an update on the second confirmed carrier of the dreaded disease said the second case is the first person to person transmission of the disease within Nigeria.

Professor Abayomi noted that the second patient with the virus was among the 40 people who had close contact with the Italian who brought the dreaded coronavirus to Nigeria from Milan, Italy.

He also noted that all the 40 people who had close contact with the index case had been in isolation at Lafarge health facility in Ewekoro in Ogun State since the confirmation of the index case.

According to Professor Abayomi, the Lagos State Government through the State Ministry of Health has resolved to take responsibility for the management of the second case because the state has the required facility and equipment for proper management of highly infectious diseases.
