Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi is one Baloon D’or better than his Juventus counterpart, Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer news after picking up the award last night in Paris.
The event that witnessed the stakeholders in the game except for the absence of FIFA President, Gianni Infantino and Ronaldo himself saw Ronaldo emerging runners up to Messi after being nominated for the honour for the 16th consecutive time.
Messi had appreciated the journalists, team captains that voted for him to emerge the winner of the top prize for.
Ronaldo, on the other hand, took to his Instagram page to upload his awards earned as Serie A best player with Juventus in his first season in Italy..
The question that comes to mind with the post was, why is it now that Ronaldo is posting such a picture? Is he trying to show that he deserves the award more than Messi?
“For me, it is a pride to be the best player in the Serie A. I thank my fellow Juve players and all the players who voted for me. Last year was my first year in Italy, a difficult championship but I’m very happy. And I want to make it the same as last year,” he wrote.

Messi Ronaldo competition
The duo no doubt has been involved in a healthy competition for over a decade on the competition as they always stood out for their respective team.
Ronaldo is currently all-time highest goalscorer in the Champions League and Messi would want to surpass him before hanging up his booth.
Both being captain of their respective national teams are not looking at ending this rivalry soon.
