Mad Melon of the Danfo Driver crew will be laid to rest today.
Recall that Mad Melon whose real name is Omeofa Oghene gave up the ghost on Wednesday, 25th of September, 2019 at Tolu Medical Centre Hospital in Ajegunle, Lagos. He died after battling with an undisclosed ailment. Some believed that one half of the popular 90s group ‘died of tuberculosis.
The veteran Nigerian singer who died at the age of 42 left behind a wife and two children.
With Wake Keep held on Friday in Ajegunle, Mad Melon will be interred at 10 am in Ajegunle, his base.
The group was discovered by Cornerstone Music in 2003 where they work as commercial a bus driver and conductor to make ends meet.
Their unique style of song captivated Nigerian music lovers. They got popular with their hit, Danfo Driver and later Kpolongo. With the success recorded with the hit tracks, they toured about eight countries which includes Germany, Austria amongst others.
With Mad Melon gone, will his partner, Mountain Black relaunch his career as he will be going solo now?
Nigeria will surely miss this huge talent as the music industry continues to wax stronger on a daily basis. Rest in peace Mad Melon.
