Mavin records boss Donjazzy is on a race to put his label back together after his top artists left. Reekado Banks, Tiwa Savage, Iyanya all left the record label unannouced. A source close to the record label said that Di’ja and other artist have also left.
Mavin records unveil a new artist on May 31, 2019. his stage name is Crayon.
Crayon is part of Baby Fresh Blowtime Entertainment and he is now on a joint deal with Mavin records. Donjazzy said a lot of wonderful things about Baby Fresh/Crayon during a press release about his signing.
The newest Mavin artist, Crayon grew up in Iba, Lagos, he was discovered by Baby Fresh while working to build his music career and they are now business partners.
“He’s called Crayon because his work is so colourful: it channels Fela, Drake, Justin Bieber, Bryson Tiller, Wizkid and Davido in a way that feels completely current and fresh. I was on the lookout for a new artist to take Afrobeats somewhere newer and bigger, and that’s what I found in him,” Baby Fresh said.

Mavin records need to add more talented artist to its roster, therefore they scrambled to find a talented artist to sign as soon as possible. The key reason is that they need to start making money as soon as possible. When Tiwa Savage left, her departure caused Mavin Records to go into financial distress.
