Nigerians on Twitter have been fighting one of the country’s biggest music star, Wizkid for not doing enough to promote the musical career of Terri that he signed to his StayBoy record label over two years ago.
Terri got a lifetime opportunity of meeting Wizkid in December 2017, after Terri tagged him in a video on Instagram where he did a cover to one of Wizkid’s songs. A few days later, Wizkid announced on his Instagram page that he has signed Terri with a photo of him and Terri hugging.
Wizkid introduced Terri into the music industry in 2018 when he released Terri’s debut single titled ‘Soco’ under his Starboy record label. The track also featured Spotless and Ceeza Milli as guest acts.
Terri’s signing comes two months after Wizkid signed Ahmed, a 12-year-old rapper who freestyled at his headline concert in December 2017. Ahmed career as also been as quiet as that of Terri if not worse.
In reaction to the state of Terri’s career when compared to other newbies like Fireboy of YBNL Nation and Rema of Jonzing World, Nigerians on Twitter believe that Wizkid has not done enough for Terri.
They argued that Terri is more talented than other newbies who are doing better in the music industry. They urged him to allow Terri to work on more projects and do more collaborations in order to remain relevant.
“I think you should let Terri come up with more project. He’s as good or better than most of the newbies. All he needs is more promo and probably a feature like soco with you. He’s really sleeping on a bicycle music-wise. Please give him a little push”, @antigravitylite tweeted.
While some urged Terri to safe his musical career by leaving StarBoy record label, others urged the critics to be patient with Terri describing him as a marathon runner.
