Former president Goodluck Jonathan denies withdrawing Billions from the Treasury account

Goodluck Jonathan left the office in 2015 after losing the presidential election to president Muhammadu Buhari. The former president ruled Nigeria from May 5, 2010, to May 29, 2015. He hasn’t been successful with cleaning up his name since he left the office following a series of missing fund allegations.   He was linked to multiple missing fund allegations. The recent allegation involves the alleged missing funds from the treasury account.

Recently, he was accused of withdrawing money from the Nations Treasury account. Mr. Jonathan denied the allegation. “These allegations are false and misleading”, he said.

“I remember a particular incidence where somebody was talking about billions that were removed from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and I asked them, how many trucks were used to carry all these billions?  In Nigeria, we get carried away by figures and it’s sad that we go too low to tell lies against people.”  Goodluck Jonathan said while speaking to the Anglican Community in Abuja on Friday, May 17, 2019.

“As a nation, we have been passing through a lot of challenges; the issues of kidnapping, armed robbery, and even to travel to very near cities like Kaduna is becoming a nightmare to Nigerians. But I believe with your constant prayers, asking God to take the lead, the country will get through all its challenges.” He added.
