Six injured, some ‘critically,’ after gunmen open fire on FC Ifeanyi Ubah team bus

Some gunmen shot driver and other team members of FC Ifeanyi Ubah team in their bus. On their way to a league match against Jigawa Golden Stars in Kano. 

Some of the Nigeria Professional Football League players sustains injury and in a critical condition. According to reports, the gunmen fired at their bus in Lokoja, Kogi on Friday 29th November.

Following the report, the club statement says ’the incident took place at about 1:30pm. When the players and officials of the club were traveling to Kano for their NPFL match day six. However, ran into a group of armed robbers dressing in NYSC uniforms at Kabba junction, near Lokoja in Kogi State.’

The NPFL players and members of the coaching crew who are the victim are currently receiving treatment. But keeping the location of the hospital is safer for the Ifeanyi Ubah team members.

Moreover, they need absolute protection as no one knows the reason for the attack yet. And the management of the football club request authorities to tighten security around football team across the country.

The injured members at the hospital are rapidly responding to treatment. While Nigerians and supporters are kindly praying for their quick recovery. 

In conclusion, the Ifeanyi FC management says they are urging ”fans, well-wishers, supporters, and Nigerians. All in general, to kindly keep the entire management. Including coaching staff and players of FC Ifeanyi Ubah in their prayers in this moment of despair.”
