Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Burna Boy has declared on Twitter today that he is willing to die for the unity of Africa. He said though he loves South Africa as a country, he loves the continent of Africa even more.
Nigeriatunes reports that Burna Boy Tweeted in September that he would never step his foot on South Africa soil again until the government of the country is able to stop its people from attacking other Africans in the country.
He also threatened a South African rapper, AKA, who has not been speaking against the attacks, that he should be with “big security” when they meet.
On the part of AKA, the rapper did not take it likely as he has been ranting on Twitter against the Afrobeat singer afterwards. He urged the Nigerian singer to apologize to him and the whole South Africans before he comes to the country for the Africa Unite concert billed for November 23 and 24 this year.
The tweets of the rapper have propelled South Africans to join the movement of calling out the singer to apologize or stay away from their country.
Hence, in reaction to their tweets and warnings, Burna Boy said he is looking forward to meeting the South Africans at the event.
He urged Africans to unite and stop acting like Nigerians, Tanzania, Zimbabweans and other Africans have not been victims of xenophobia in South Africa.
Below are his series of tweets:
Thank you @Julius_S_Malema Africa must Unite and I am willing to Die for that cause just like you brother. I look forward to meeting you.— Burna Boy (@burnaboy) November 16, 2019
Let’s not act like xenophobia is not real in South Africa, let’s not act like Nigerians, Tanzanians, Zimbabweans and many other AFRICANS have not been victims in the last three years. Please Let us all do our part to Unite Africa.— Burna Boy (@burnaboy) November 16, 2019
