The Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei showed up for Friday prayers in Tehran for the first time in 8 years only to use the opportunity to remind the world about the World War III threat most people are still recovering from.
While addressing the worshippers today, January 17, 2020, the Supreme Leader said Iran is ready to negotiate over his nuclear program but the country is not ready to negotiate with the United States of America.
He went on to describe the president of the USA, President Donald Trump as a “clown” and a pretender who pretends to care about Iranians but will turn against them later on. According to the supreme leader, despite the support President Trump has been pretentiously showing to the Iranians, he will “push a poisonous dagger” into the nation’s back.
Recall that Trump ordered the killing of an Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, on January 3, 2020, through an airstrike. Ever since the general died, the Iranian leaders have openly declared their bitterness against Trump’s administration, calling him and Pentagon terrorists.
Though there were unbelievable numbers of Iranians who trooped out to pay their last respect to the Iranian general, there are reports that most Iranians are happy for the death of the general.
Trump has made a couple of comments and tweets which showed support to those Iranians who have been protesting against the Islamic State of Iran. But the Iranian supreme leader said the turnout of Iranians during the burial of the general is a sign that most Iranians are in support of his leadership.
According to the Supreme leader, Western countries are too weak to “bring Iranians to their knees.”
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been the supreme leader of Iran since 1989 and he reportedly has the final say on all major decisions. During the burial of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the 80-year-old supreme leader openly wept and vowed “harsh retaliation” against the United States.
