Just yesterday, February 1, one of the biggest websites in the world, Wikipedia, blew a blunder online that caused controversy. Nigerian songwriter, Divine Ikubor better known by his stage name, Rema was declared dead by Wikipedia.
Meanwhile, Wikipedia is one of the best websites for getting information online, many people hold the information gotten on Wikipedia as sacred. They believed any information from Wikipedia can not be untrue. This belief created a conflict of interest in the minds of people after the website declared that the Mavins act Rema died on February 1, 2020.
However, the singer’s manager identified as Sean has disregarded the news. He made this know through a WhatsApp chat, he disclosed that the singer is Hale and hearty. In his words;
Death is not something one can hide! Some hackers got access to his official account and spread the rumour. He is hale and healthy, he is fine. We don’t want to blow this out of proportion” he said.
It is worthy to know that Wikipedia is a social network. Anyone who has an account on it can write or edit a post on the website. Wikipedia is also like a parasite that depends on other people to get its information. It was reported that someone hacked into the website to write the untrue story about the singer.
