British-Nigerian Actor, John Boyega was the cynosure of all eyes at Cineworld in Leicester Square when he donned an agbada, traditional Yoruba dress, for the London premiere of the eagerly awaited Star Wars film, The Rise of Skywalker.
The Peckham-born star displayed Nigeria’s heritage to the world with the traditional attire which is traditionally worn by men in West Africa, with gold detailing. A Fila, a traditional Yoruba cap, to balance the matter.
Daisy Ridley was not also left out for a moment in the spotlight at the venue as the 27-year-old A-list actress donned a royal blue ensemble by British designer Vivienne Westwood. Her outfit was complemented with a pair of vegan Jimmy Choo heels and earrings by Tatiana Verstraeten.
It could be recalled that Boyega starred in the last three of the nine-episode sci-fi adventure. His character in the first film known as Finn starts off as a soldier for the evil Galactic Empire and then switches to the rebel cause.
As that was not enough, Boyega alongside his mother, father, and sisters were all in matching outfits at the screening on Wednesday evening.
Speaking with African-Caribbean entertainment website, Gbpyega said he decided to make sure that his mum gets her moment.
The British Black List in an Instagram video said: “See, this is how your mum really wants you to go to the premier.”
This was indeed a memorable night for them all.
