Nigerian songwriter and guitarist, Majekodunmi Fasheke popularly known as Majek Fashek recently survived a derailing health condition in the UK. While the legendary singer was battling for his life in a hospital in the United Kingdom, efforts were made to gather all the financial support that they can get for the music to get prompt and adequate medical treatment.
Majek Fashek is one of the biggest music entertainers in Nigeria and Africa. One would have expected that financial help will quickly arise for someone of his worth and status. However, Fashek’s manager Mr. Umenka Uzoma, disclosed that it was only the YBNL boss, Olamide Baddo who extended the hands of help to Majek Fashek among all artists in Nigeria.
Mr. Uzoma revealed this during an interview session with Nigeria Info’s 99.3. He explained that among numerous rich and popular music artists in Nigeria, the ‘Wo’ crooner was the only one that helped.
According to Mr. Uzoma, Olamide didn’t want any appreciation for doing it. He disclosed that the singer said he doesn’t want it to be disclosed publicly. In his words;
“He called me up in England and he said, Bros, sorry oh, I wan support Baba, don’t discuss this with anybody and he said I must not mention this. He is the only person that supported.”
Meanwhile, the manager explained that there are some other artists who came trying to help with funds for the ailing legendary singer. He, however, told them “calm down and wait for Majek to come back. I decided to stop some of them because when money comes in, so many controversies arise, people you don’t know from any corner start raising some dirty voices,” Umenka disclosed.
It is common trend among entertainers to raise an helping hands for another when in time of need.
