Nigeria Hip hop artist Erigga says he battled drugs and went to jail before music.

Erigga is recording artist in the Nigeria music industry, his real name is Erhiga Agarivbie, he was born in 1987 and he is 31 years old this year (2019).  He is also known as Eribaba. 

He disclosed that he battled with drugs and usually got into troubles that caused him to get locked up few times.   He was born in Warri and he grew up on the street. 

“The city brings out that toughness in you; you have to be strong to survive out here, it is really tough, there is no opportunity.

“We sold drugs and got into trouble with the law; but at some point, after I was released, I decided to exchange the drugs for the microphone.

“That decision changed my life totally and helped me move out of the hood and only returns occasionally, this time as a local celebrity.

“I never saw this coming; all I wanted was to give my people voice; what I rap about is basically the struggle that every Warri and Niger Delta youth go through every day,’’ he told German broadcasting network, DWtv,

 during an interview.

He said that music saved his life, and the microphone helped him to stop abusing drugs.
