The Nigeria Police Force has declared Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, wanted over the death of two police officers.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, John Abang, announced this today while addressing the press in Awka, the state capital.
Prior to this announcement, reports said some youths in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State reportedly killed two police officers and burnt their bodies.
The reports also claimed that the youths killed the officers on Monday for allegedly invading the residence of the lawyer.
The state police commissioner said; “I’ll like Nigerians to know that Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor has been declared wanted.
“I’ll seek the cooperation of law-abiding Nigerians; East, West, North and South that wherever they find this individual, they should report to the nearest police station.
However, Nnamdi Kanu claimed via a tweet that the police invaded the residence of the lawyer to assassinate him. He also claimed that the police officers killed two members of IPOB during their alleged invasion.
Here is the tweet:
