Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have lost their status as ‘Royal Highness’ and have been told to reimburse the 2.4 million pounds ($3.1 million) taxpayers money they received to renovate their house.
This was contained in a statement released from Buckingham palace on Saturday. Queen Elizabeth explained that the Royal family have taken a sigh of relief after they were able to find a constructive solution to the latest problem that struck the Royal family.
In the statement, the Queen revealed that the Royal family have agreed to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of all their titles and positions they hold in the Royal family. She affirmed that the couple should return the 2.4 million pounds they had received from taxpayers for their home improvement.
Also, the couple will cease to bear the title of Royal Highness, and they will vacate their offices as working members of the Royal Class. They will be addressed as Duke and Duchess of Sussex. However, the palace made it known equivocally that despite all these changes, Prince Harry will not cease to be addressed as a Prince and he will remain the sixth heir to the throne of the United kingdom.
It is worthy of note that the exit of the couple has created disparity within the Royal family. However, the Queen expressed her satisfaction after the family was able to get a constructive solution to the problem.
Quoting the words of Queen Elizabeth,
“together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved members of my family.”
“I recognize the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.
“It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life,” she added.
All these resolutions will have Prince Harry and Meghan Markle start almost from scratch as they planned to move to Canada.
