Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade are arguably the two biggest female singers in Nigeria and indeed the whole of Africa. Since it is rare to have two queens on the same throne, the rivalry between them has been intense and unabated until Yemi Alade agreed to appear on the Music concert of Tiwa Savage.
The appearance of Yemi Alade on the stage of Tiwa’s ‘Everything Savage’ concert, on December 24, 2019, has given music lovers a glimpse of hope that the duo has finally put their differences aside for the love of the game.
A viral video from the concert showed Tiwa Savage on stage telling the audience about the next act she was about to bring on stage. Before she mentioned Alade’s name, she appreciated her for agreeing to show up saying “We do this for the culture.”
Yemi then came on stage while one of her hit singles “Oh My Gosh” was playing. She danced to the direction of Tiwa who was also dancing and they hugged each other.

Genesis of Tiwa and Alade’s Beef
The drama between this music superstars started in December 2018 when Yemi Alade tweeted that a certain Nigerian female celebrity always photoshops her butts to deceive her fans on social media. She urged the celebrity whose name was not mentioned, to stop deceiving people on social media with flat buttocks.
“Stop increasing your nyash (butts) in your pictures. You know you are straight like ‘I’. Embrace your real self! Ahh ahh. Deceiving fans up and dan (down)”, she tweeted.
Unfortunately, Tiwa Savage took it as a shot directed to her. She then accepted the challenge by taking to both Twitter and Instagram to display her anger.
In one of her tweets to this effect, she wrote: “Don’t start a war you cannot finish. Trust me, I’m not the one. I’m quiet but don’t f**k with me.”
From that point till December 24, 2019, the battle line was drawn as it became a free for all between Tiwa’s fans and Alade’s fans on Twitter and Instagram.
When Tiwa’s name was raised in an interview with Yemi Alade in mid-2019 regarding whether they will ever collaborate on a musical project, Yemi said she did not think so, blaming it on how the fans will accept it.
“It’s unfortunate that with the troubles that people keep steering in our ways, it probably will never allow us to ever have collaboration because you’re not sure the outcome would even be positive or be overrun by negative things and all the fights”, she said during the interview.
Now that the Beef is seemingly over
Well, now that they have found a way to be together on the same stage, the next big question is, can they take it a step further to find a way to be in the same studio together in 2020?
Just like how most lovers of Nigerian music are anxiously looking forward to having a collaborative song from arch-rivals Wizkid and Davido, they are also wishing to see the same thing happens between Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage.
If such strings can be pulled in this new year, who knows, the song could be the 2020 anthem that will keep their names on the lips of music fans all over the world throughout this new year.
